How could you describe your career path in a few words?

I would describe my career so far as challenging and exciting at the same time. I started my career working at a well-known telecommunications company. Working there was exciting for me as a fresh graduate because I had the opportunity to meet and learn from great mentors and coaches. Following this job, I wanted to gain experience on a global level and moved to a multinational company working in the retail sector and left just before the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Half way through the year 2020, we were witnessing many businesses moving digital or at least introducing digital processes into their workplace. With the increased adoption of technology on a global level, demand for digital entertainment has increased too. This new demand made me curious to learn about the contemporary entertainment industry where I ended up working for a huge digital entertainment company during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was challenging to keep up with the constant changes going on in this industry. Overall, I enjoyed every part of this journey. My current job is also related to tech but this time with finance. I chose to take up this opportunity as we can see how technology is taking over the finance industry. It is very exciting not only to witness and live through such a challenging global change but also to be able to help organizations develop better financial systems for their current and future productivity, efficiency and profitability levels.

What was your most challenging experience and it has changed your mindset?

I believe the most challenging experience for me is my current role. This is due to many reasons. Two of the main reasons are: 1) it is a new and developing industry with continuous learning to do, 2) COVID-19 is still part of our everyday work struggle; from a business perspective more than the health at this stage. If I combine these two reasons together, I believe that no matter how unusual the context you live in and the risky/tough decisions you need to take to move forward, life will always give you something to learn from. Whatever the result(s) you are faced with, good or bad, it is the knowledge, knowing and learning point(s) that are important to take with you. This is why I am believer of never saying no to any learning opportunity in either personal or career life.

What’s the most important key success factor for you based on your experience?

In my personal opinion, there are two connected success factors that are important to keep in the back of mind based on my experience and the ongoing changes taking place in our external environment. The first factor is adaptability. Adaptability is extremely important because we do live in a time where mainly systematic change such as in goals, processes or technologies is a daily outcome in any particular job. Hence, without being accepting of this environment, there will be no room for growth, learning and sustainability. Which brings me to my second success factor which is openness to continuous learning. When we are faced with an unusual context such as COVID-19 pandemic, we should try to understand the pros and cons of this change and be fully accepting and adapting to make the best possible decisions to help businesses improve and develop in the best way possible considering their other respective internal and external effects.
