Exclusive Trusted Magazine Q&A with Nitin Vijay, CEO & Founder @ Motion Education

How could you describe your career path in a few words?

I belong to a very normal family, my father used to work in Thermal and my mother was a housewife. From the very beginning, I had the will to achieve my goals, and the first step I took to fulfill them was getting admission into IIT- BHU, Varanasi in 2003. In the very first year of engineering, I decided my aim was to become a successful TEACHER, and to achieve it I started teaching physics in Banaras. Daily, I used to travel 60kms, just to teach 1 batch of students. In my second year of Engineering, students loved my way of teaching, seeing this I started my own institute in Varanasi for physics with partners and named it Kota Point. Next two years of my engineering, I continued teaching there only. Not only did I focus on my teaching but also on my studies and scored around 8 CGPA in my final year and got selected by the two most popular companies through campus drive. But my dream to Educate brought me back to Kota and I started teaching physics in one of the renowned institutes of that time. I hardly worked there for some time and then I started my own institute for physics, named it Motion Education which flourished year by year and bloomed into flowers of success.

What was your most challenging experience in your career?

Navigating a business is extra tricky these days. The speed of technological changes means that the right path yesterday may not work today and could be a disaster by tomorrow. The edtech sector is fascinating. Over the past few years, it has constantly increased. There were and still are many challenges which I face while building my institution:

  • Maintaining quality customer relationships: The factor most important for the continued success of a company is its relationships with customers. Through positive word-of-mouth, those customers may be the champions needed to bring in new clients and provide an overall boon to the business.

  • Meeting customer needs: Customer relationships and trust can become a key differentiator for any company. You will encounter better and more improved competitors virtually daily, but if you are committed to your customers, you have the key to success.

  • Preserving a good reputation

  • Responding to competition

The COVID-19 pandemic has sped up how Edtech businesses operate. Edtech products are increasingly necessary for home learning. Every class is now online, and the number of inventive Edtech solutions has suddenly increased. Additionally, more people are signing up for and becoming subscribers to e-learning solutions, counselling services, and exam prep businesses. Businesses must provide the best solutions to this inflow of clients if they hope to retain their patronage. Due to the Covid pandemic, the primary difficulty we encountered was having enough resources to reach every student. To address this problem, we offered FREE courses online in both English and Hindi during the COVID epidemic. Since students are the nation's future, we made sure that COVID did not interfere with their education. To that end, we endeavoured to reach every single one of our students through online education to ensure that their year was not squandered.

What’s the most important key success factor for your growth based on your experience?

I believe that the key to Edtech success is its people, it is the result of the combined efforts of all the people associated with the company, given that it would not be as effective in the classroom without the assistance of teachers. Teachers need to be aware of when using technology is appropriate and when in-person instruction is preferable. When teachers strike the correct balance, educational technology may be a powerful tool that transforms learning environments. I think that an empowered workforce is one that is in good health, thus my organization and I work hard to maximize employee well-being since it has a beneficial effect on the way people perceive their work, making it less stressful and more fulfilling; eventually leading to success. Apart from this, another major factor is developing good content. The student is more likely to value information that can help him solve his problem than general information that he can find online. You don't have to start doing everything right away, but you should always be adding and editing material. For instance, the test format constantly changes in the testing environment we are in. Therefore, even if you create fantastic content initially, you must always work to improve it.
