How could you describe your career path in a few words?

It’s been quite an interesting journey so far where I am learning every day from others at my home or workplace irrespective of quantitative or qualitative with ups and downs. It's not an easy ride, few people supported me and few questioned but that didn’t let me down. Two factors I always focus on – Never doubt your self-belief and always back your instinct.

I have never settled for something specific and led myself into a comfort zone which perhaps stops the path of growing. That is the reason every day I try to do something unique and purposeful which eventually helps me and also others surrounded by me. During this whole journey, I faced lots of challenges and risks but eventually those are the best lessons learned to proceed forward. Turing these risks into opportunities is the main mantra.

Earlier in my career, I treated every role or position as very dynamic and always prepared to adopt any challenge coming next and that’s where the experience builds up. So, shaping the career to put forward the next steps I was very agile to tackle any risks. Some wrong actions had given lessons and enabled me to make right decisions.

So, to conclude, if there is success today you can fail tomorrow, this is the beauty of life. But never stop trying something new.

When you get surprised by an unusual or uncertain context, what do you think?

Uncertainty is all around us, never more so than today. In this VUCA world, whether it concerns a global pandemic, the economy, or your finances, health, and relationships, much of what lies ahead in life remains uncertain. Yet as human beings, we crave security. We want to feel safe and have a sense of control over our lives and well-being. Fear and uncertainty can leave you feeling stressed, anxious, and powerless over the direction of your life. It can drain you emotionally and trap you in a downward spiral of endless “what-ifs” and worst-case scenarios about what tomorrow may bring.

To overcome this unpredictable situation, taking one decision at a time is the key. Whether the decision is major - minor or complex -lean, the outcome must be pre calculated along with the risk resolution factors. Major focus is on the areas which are under my control and to challenge the need for certainty.

So to tackle the uncertain, focus on the aspects that you can control in this way, you’ll switch from ineffective worrying and ruminating into active problem-solving. Of course, all circumstances are different and you may find that in some situations all you can control is your attitude and emotional response. At the same time, we need to embrace the uncertainty and focus on the present.

What’s the most important key success factor for you based on your experience?

Several factors are involved to make any decision successful, like:

  • Effective Communication - Your team will look to you to keep informed at all times, so try to keep abreast with everything happening in your business and in your sector. You will then be in a position to cascade that information down to your team who will hopefully appreciate your efforts. Strong communication is a critical part of being a great leader

  • Setting the right example – Setting the right example and role modeling how leaders want their teams to act and perform is crucial. All eyes are on you, watching your every move as you set the expectations of employees.

  • Positive Attitude - A positive environment is more likely to create a more engaged and productive workforce. By displaying enthusiasm and confidence, a good leader will understand the impact that they can have in the working environment.

  • Seek and take responsibility- As a leader, your team will look to you for guidance and inspiration, and ways to take the business to new heights. When things go wrong, they will turn to you to take corrective and decisive action.

  • Make correct and timely decisions - It is imperative that you are in a position to make informed decisions quickly. By ensuring you are up to speed with good problem solving, decision making, and planning tools, you will be in a position of strength to lead your team.

What would be the major pitfall that may undermine the success of a leader?

Some of the major pitfalls that can undermine the success:

Leaders who don’t give proper credit to the contributions of their employees- When employees feel like they are the last to be cared for, it’s very difficult for them to give their very best. After all, if they don’t feel valued by the company, the employees will never value the company

Lack of mutual trust - Trust is a key component of any leadership team. Without trust, your leadership team is much more likely to fail. A significant level of trust brings improved relationships, performance, and success

Fail to meet with And Listen to your People- Your intended outcome of these sessions is to connect with people while learning all you can to help understand the environment. Learn the standard on integrity and adherence to the core values of the organization.

Standing apart from your team- Appearing to stand apart from your team in a way that places you above them can make you come across as arrogant and unconcerned about your team's needs. Employees often like to know that their leaders are on their side, that they care, and that they value the work of their teams.
